    muscle pain

Your trouble sounds a lot like mine. Well, I've had issues with the muscle in the same area of my stump, I'm a RBK, this has been a problem for many years. I had a tendon removed back in '96, that helped some, but not completely. I have less problem with it since I've been in the Harmony leg. I really believe this was due to many years of "pistoning" with all my previous legs, which was always a problem for me with other issues like skin problems. It was a few years before this started being a problem for me! Hope you can get the problem rectified, please post if you do!

    Vacuum Suspension Socket

I just got the same system you've got and love it. What happened to the liners? I've had the Harmony system for 3 years now, and this is the best leg I have ever had, and I've had a bunch! Yes, there were some issues at first, but OttoBock fixed the problems. I have only had a problem with one liner, it tore, but not one problem since then! And let me tell you, the the ProFlex sleeve is the best sleeve I have ever had, my last one lasted a year! They have made great strides in improving this system! I did have to have the pump rebuilt after two years, but they sent a loaner to use until it was finished. It still worked fine, just got noisy. Your prosthetist needs to deal with them. Oh, and Ohio Willowood, now that's bad!

I have been using the new OttoBock ProFlex Sleeve, with more flex in the knee/brim area, this has been the best sleeve I've had, been almost two months, and not one issue. I can feel the difference in the knee area, maybe OttoBock found the cure for us active folks! It is also lighter. http://ottobockus.com/products/patient_com...on_products.asp Okay, update on this post. I got a year out of the ProFlex sleeve, this is the best, longest sleeve, great job OttoBock. The old ones would just last a few months!

I have the Harmony, and yes it may be heavier, but when the vacuum is active you don't even notice the difference. He sounds like he just doesn't know the system. And yes, things can tear, but since OttoBock came out with the ProFlex sleeve, I've had zero issues with leaks or anything else. Been over 2 years now on this system, and I love it!

    Botox injections to decrease sweat?

I find just applying any anti-perspirant prior to anything strenuous helps a lot. Especially when I ride my bike, it cuts down greatly on the amount of perspiration inside the liner. I'm hoping as the weather gets hotter it will still work as well.

    Active Vacuum Leaks

The ProFlex sleeve is the best one I've had, I've been using the same one for about 8 or 9 months now, still works great, not any damage at all around the brim area. Plus, it gives a lot better bending the knee. I'm extremely happy with the ProFlex!! LOL, Ortho Bionic (that's printed on the box.) You can probably throw the glue away! Otto Bock did it right with this sleeve!!! I wish I could edit to add this, but oh well. I wanted to add that I am very active, and hard on sleeves, so to be holding up this long is fantastic! I also find it works well in bike riding. Before, with the Harmony sleeve, I'd always have an issue with the sleeve slipping down with all the knee bendng, this one stays in place. Seems to also help with the issue of sweating heavily inside the liner as well.

Hi , I am being fitted for the Harmony e-pulse right now The leg is being built right now and I will get the e-pulse unit in August. I have problems with sweating and my legman states this will help a lot. The test socket gets alot of vacuum. Will have the test socket and leg next week for me to walk on for a few weeks. I'd like to see how you do with the perspiration with the e-pulse. I do pretty good with the pump, except in the upper part of the liner, in the back, if I ride my bike with the Harmony, it gets really wet back there, funny though, the rest of my stump stays relatively dry. At first, using the liner got a lot more perspiration all over, would be almost a cup in there after a ride, so this is better now.

No, I didn't realize that for some reason. I guess it would be good for a rather long stump. I'm sold on this Harmony stuff.

David, Try that new ProFlex sleeve, it has pre-flex in the knee, I haven't tried it on the actual bike, but I have used my Harmony leg on a spin bike at the gym, and this sleeve works much better for flex in the knee. When you look at the sleeve, it has a bulge for the knee. I would miss the shock absorption and rotation, that's one thing I like about the Harmony. By the way, I have the HD model, not sure how different that is.

Okay, since we can't edit here...............I see some comments about the liner. Well, it does get some wear and tear around the brim, but it's if it does get a leak, it's easily repairable with a product called Aquaseal, urethane repair kit, available at scuba dealers, runs around $15, and I've used it a couple of times, and it works great. Also, OttoBock recommends having a spare liner, right now I have about 4, not sure why I got them all, but in my case, the VA covers all the costs. But, if you can, I strongly recommednd having a spare. Feel free to ask me anything about the system, tkgraphic@q.com

    Vacuum Suspension Socket

I've had the Harmony for a year and a half now, and it's the best leg I've ever had, it stays in place, stays snug all day. I've had some issues, but they have all been resolved. The main thing has been the sleeve, just a pinhole creates a leak, but I've had a sleeve last up to 7 months. I have just started using the ProFlex sleeve, which has more flex in the knee area, and so far, this sleeve has been great. the weight isn't an issue when the vacuum is there, it feels like it's part of you. With old style PTB's, I was always getting sores, hair follicles, some blisters etc, but I rarely if ever have a skin problem anymore. Perspiration was a big problem at first, but no more. The only time it's been an issue is riding the bike, the back at the top of the liner gets an accumulation of sweat back there. The only other problems I've had, were the original foot that was used, a Journey, went through 3 of them, now on the axxion foot, much better. Of course, that had nothing to do with the Harmony. My stump is healthier than it has ever been in over 40 years of being an amputee, I love this Harmony, my leg has never felt better, I highly recommend it!

    harmony unit

Okay, it appears OttoBock has addressed the problem with the sleeves, I've had this same one for 4 months now, and it's still working great, it's helf up well, I did have to patch it last month, there was a "ridge" on my socket that made just enough of an indentation that it caused a leak, but I repaired that with Aqua Seal and it's fine! I'm still having an issue with the liner bunching at the brim when I ride the bike, I'm thought the sleeve was dragging it down, but it's staying pretty much in place, maybe it's the sheath? Any thoughts?

    40 years

As of today, June 28th, it's been 40 years since I walked on two real legs, June 28th, 1967. I was injured in a deck accident on a Navy LSD in a training exercise. I can still remember the shock of learning they had to amputate my leg. But, I've done okay with it over the years, the worst part is the anxiety trouble I have from this, I was just 18 when this happened. I am now wearing the best leg I've ever had, a Harmony, my leg has never felt better, and it's been 6 months now, and I still am finding improvements in the way my leg feels and acts with this system. I can walk further than I ever could in any previous legs, I was actually able to walk a mile without stopping, something I haven't been able to do in years. Well, don't know where the 40 years went, LOL!
  18. Come on Abel, you see the mountains all the time, LOL! You should do well having become used to riding at this altitude! Hope to see you guys on the 10th!

    Cold Stumps anyone?

I've been paying more attention to this since this thread, and have noticed something I hadn't before. When I first take my leg off, my stump is cold, after a short time, it gets warmer, and is fine the rest of the night. Maybe this has something to do with the Harmony system, since it is such a different leg from anything I've ever had, anyone else with a Hrmony notice this?

    Cold Stumps anyone?

My stump has always felt cold at night, even when the rest of my body isn't, even in summer I wear a sock at night. I agree, I think it's a normal thing.

  23. When I went through my rehab with my leg, almost 6 months in the Naval Hospital, I was always going dancing on just one leg, it wasn't easy, but it was a good time, I don't know if I could do it one legged anymore, but I can still dance, danced at my high school reunion last summer. Heather does great, of course, she is a lot younger than me, better looking too, LOL!
  24. I was thinking about this, and remembered being drunk coming out of a bar, I stumbled over a parking block, a cop saw me, came over and asked if I'd been drinking, I said a little, and showed him my leg, and told him that was what caused me to trip over the barrier, he said, oh, okay, drive safely. Of course, couldn't get away with that now, wouldn't try!
