    Sweaty Stump Sorted!

Hi Friends Old and New! Been away for too long but had to share this with you all. When the hot weather comes I like many of you suffer from a sweaty stump, last week my chiropodist gave me a tip, been doing it ever since and it works no more sweaty stumps! He told me to try Witch hazel a natural product applied with a cotton pad, don't ask me ehy or how it works but it does may also help swelling and itching. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch-hazel Take care all of you Neil x

Hi Everyone! Hope you all well, I am off to see the Doctor at the prosthetic clinic tommorrow to see what can be done about my stump. For some time I have been having problems with my legs have had lots of changes to the three legs I have, but the pain when walking has been very bad. I have noticed over the last few years that I have lost almost all of the muscle and fatty tissue at the end of the stump and the rest just sags down. This has meant I have been walking directly on the bone causing rubbing, and lots of pain in the stump and in my right hip. Also due to the wastage of tissue my stump is now only a few inches long. There are two option cut out part of bone and re-shape stump or remove the knee. Other than the this i am fine and well! Has anyone else had similar problems? thanks Neil

    Any experiences of Devotees?

Hello friends I recently posted a topic asking for help with a "new friend" I had made contact with. I was beinging to get close to her, however when i went to post a letter to her "address" found out it did not exist after several checks found out her house was demolished 5 years ago when confronted "emma" confessed to being a devotee, anyone else had experience of these people? Very upset and confused neil xx Also if anyone knows who this girl is please let me know so I can inform her of her stolen identity thanks

  7. Hello everyone I hope you are all well and your lives are going well. My life is going well amelia is growing up fast and is getting more beautiful by the day, I have had a few issues recently with my legs but have a new prosthesis and its getting better. I have recently had a new bespoke kitchen put in at wheelchair height to help me (i use a chair at home i find it easier) which is a big help. Still looking for a job but no luck as yet, still doing my bit it the community as well. I do have a favour to ask! I have recently met someone very special who like me has an amputation its early days but she is very special (although we are seperate by many miles). I have sent her a link to this site but also would be interested in chatting to any arm amps out there so i can get a greater understanding of life without an arm. Many thanks and much love to you all neil xx

    courtesy car problems

Hi If you warranty includes use of a courtesy car for when warranty repairs need to be done then you have bought this "courtesy" car loan as part of your warranty. Therefore, the DDA can be enforced, if they are unable to provide there courtesy car with hand controls they must then sub-hire an adapted vehicle on your behalf. Unfortunately, the DDA does not go far enough in my opinion as it is up to you to take them to court. On another thread, my Motability car was recently involved in a serious accident when "white van man" drove up a road in the wrong direction I swerved but he hit me side on. I must say that Motability has done me proud. The insurance covers you for a courtesy car, while yours is being repaired and as soon as I explained that i needed a left foot accelerator they swung into action. It took a few days to arrange due to the accident happening over the Christmas period, but there was good communication between Motability, RSA insurance and myself and within five days an adapted car was driven down from London. At first, they offered me a Nissan micra, but i explained this would be too small for me, so they sent me a Seat Alhambra a 7 seater MPV with a left foot accelerator and should i ever need it a wheelchair hoist! It is a lovely car with amongst other things heated seats ideal for the time of year. Unfortunately my car has since been “written off” by the insurance company and Motability have said I can keep the courtesy car until I get a replacement car, which as I have had to apply for funding as the advance payments have gone through roof and due to my height cannot find anything reasonable to accommodate me. I hope to get a new car in a few weeks but until then I have what my daughter describes as “The Big Red Bus“! Neil

Hi everyone, Still new to this so always looking for answers (not the meaning of life stuff yet tho!) Is the uk car mobility scheme worthwhile? As a rbka will the car need to be adjusted much? do most amputees get the higher rate of mobility? thanks, and i am so glad i found you guys without being melodramatic, you quite possibly saved my mental state! neil

    Back on the road again!

Hi Guys i have finally taken the plunge and got back in the driving seat, i have had my mobility car for a little over 48 hours now and its great! Although it is taking a bit of time getting back into the swing after not driving for over 2 years and never driven an automatic not least one with a left foot accelerator. Quick question Do you drive with or without your prosthetic on? Everything else is going great no job yet but very active in my local community and milly my daughter is growing up fast and getting cheekier by the day. Love to you all Neil ;)
