    A lil update

Good evening everyone, I just thought I would post for the last time tonight. I am going to Sabolich's to get more work done on my new prostheses tomorrow. Ok, I will go if it ain't flooded. It has been raining non stop here in Duncan for the last 4 days. My whole driveway, and front yard is flooded, and I had to park my car in the street. I will keep you updated through the process, as it happens. I am taking pics of this journey, so all my friends know what I go through. If you are interested in seeing these pics, let me know, and I will send you all the links.. Anyways, Have a good night, and talk to you all tomorrow evening.. Samuel

    A lil update

Hey Neal, I am also going to be meeting with an orthopedist, and they are going to make me a special brace to go with my prosthetic. It will help to stabilize my knee from going out of place, and if it works I won't require surgery on my knee.. Have a nice day, and I will email you when I get home this evening.. Samuel

    A brewing situation

Good evening everyone! Well, I just need to get something off my chest. This thing that i need to vent about has bugged me since the birth of my son last year. The one thing that ha bugged me the most, and it has ate at me like cancer. I loe my son to the max. He is now 13 months old, and has been kinda experimenting with my prosthetic, like playing with it, and touching it, and trying to rip off some of the cosmetic covering on it. (cause it is old, and is ripped a little bit).. I am worried what to do, or what to say when he gets older about my disability. How am I supposed to deal with this issue? Am I overreacting? My wife says he will just adapt to it. If anyone with any avise, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you very much.... Samuel P.S. I also have been told numerous times I should try to get a disability check for my disability. does anyone receive one for their prosthetic disability?

    A brewing situation

Samual, I can't tell you more than the rest have already done...I came home from the hospital, of course without my leg, and they were very careful not to jump on me. Asked all sorts of questions about where it was & what they did with it...I told them I had a foot that couldn't get well, so the Dr. had to get rid of it so Mommy-ann (that's what they call me) could get well. They always had to see it; especially after I got my prosthesis.....let me tell you I got alot of massages on my leg; and I loved that. I never hesitated to answer any of their questions. They never pay any attention to it. NOW, I want to hear all about Shrek 3....that is my favorite movie.... I have even watched the first two when the grand-kids arent even here Another one I like is the Lion King. Hope you have a good time tonight. Don't worry about Nathaniel ~ he will have no problem with this :) Hey thanx alot! I am back from seeing Shrek 3. It was sooo koolll.. I really liked it. I have to say it was better than the 2nd one. If you haven't seen it, GO! I totally recommend it.. Nathaniel slept through most of it. Alot of people from work showed up, more than I thought would. well, now it i time for dinner, and then on to pending time with my son, and maybe after he goes to sleep, I will be back.. Samuel P.S. It is raining like dogs an cats..

    A brewing situation

Thanx everyone! I appreciate all the strong advise. Right now Nathaniel (my son) just like to play with the button, and tries to play with the skin part where it is ripped open. I just want him to be adapted to it like normally.. Anyways, my job i throwing movie night, and we are going. They are closing down the local movie theater for the employees, and showing Shrek 3, and Spiderman 3, so we are going to see Shrek 3. I will talk to you all tonight some time. Have a good evening. Samuel

My leg is almost done, and yes they made my very first prostheses. After that I went on to the Shriners, and as I got grown, it was my responsibility. Now I got some decent insurance, I got to go back to Sabolich, and ye they are like the best in the nation..

    Everyones story

Well, I am a newbie, so here is my story! My name is Samuel, I am 30 years old. I live in Duncan Oklahoma. When I was 3 years old, I was playing hide n seek with my sister. My grandpa came home for some unknown emergency, and put his loaded deer rifle under his bed. Well being like a 3 yr old, I hid under the bed, and found the gun. I pulled it out, and started messing with it, and my sister tried to take it away, and it during the struggle the gun went off. It blew my left leg off below the knee, and my middle finger on my left hand completely off. I don't remember why, or how it got my hand, but was told that I had my hand on the barrel. So after the dust settled, and the smoke cleared, I was left without a left leg, and they saved my hand, but amputated the finger off of my hand with a skin graft. Now I am grown, and am married to a wonderful lady, who helps me through my good, and bad days, and also we have a lil boy who just turned 1. I am in the middle of the process of getting a new prostheses made at Sabolich here in Oklahoma. I have never had any interaction with other amputees in my life, or have had any amputee friend. I know Neal from Myspace, and he put me here on this forum. We talk back, and forth, and he is a wonderful guy! Thanx Neal for your help, love, and support.. I am looking forward to meeting all you guys, and talking to to you all.. Anyways, Have a great afternoon, and I will be back on this evening sometime.. Samuel

    Hello from Duncan

Cheryl, Thanks for the welcome. I lost my leg in a gun shot accident when I was 3 years old. I was playing with a deer rifle, and it accidentally went off, blowing my leg completely off, and severing my middle finger on my left hand also. I never had a support group, or associated with people like me, cause I was kept away, and I just feel like that part of me is missing. Yes, Neal is very kool. I have read some of the post from the ACA. Sounds like everyone had a blast. Maybe I can go next year. Anyways, thanx again, and look forward to meeting everyone, and talking to everyone. Samuel
