what socket would be best for me

Hey All I have not posted very often on here, but here goes. I have an active vac system for bk , from limb logic willow woods. I have talked to tiger about this often. This system has the best fit , I have had in over 20 yrs . It was a giant pain in the a@@ trying to keep a seal in the system. I hated that the pump would always run. Kept trying to fix the leak...thinking maybe it was the liner ...or the gasket..( like tiger was saying) my leg guy was at a loss.... This past week I went to a seminar for the prosthesis. The factory rep from limblogic was there teaching the guys how to fix the problem .(I was the test modle) It would seem its not the gasket that is the culprit.... When they attach the pump to the bottom of the socket they attach a metal disk to the bottom of the socket. This is used to attach the pump to the bottom of the socket. The have to drill a hole in the bottom of the socket . They then insert a filter in this hole...so stuff does not get drawn into the pump. When they drill this hole, they apply some silicon sealant let it dry then redrill a smaller hole...this is suppose to help seal the socket.....problem is...the sealicon they were using...was shrinking as it dried..causing you guessed it....a LEAK! ( this is a bit confussing, but I hope you get the picture?) Tiger suggested using a sealant around the connection between socket and pump to help stop the gasket leak. There is a danger that the sealent can be drawn into the pump...and the factory rep...warned not to go this route..all though I tried it my self...did not harm the pump...but did not catch the leak for me either...willow wood has release a new version of the gasket and assures that the gasket was never the problem, but have upgraded it none the less. Since my leg guy used new sealant...redrilled the hole. ...etc... my system now seals . It was worth the aggravation to get this system to work, as the fit is better then I ever thought a leg could fit.... use to be 5 sec between the pump running , now its approx 30 mins... One more important news item from factory rep. He tell me unit is water proof...not resistant to 3 meters...this means you can swim on it...with out any problems...but not scuba...he tossed a running pump in to a pail of water when I did not believe him...lol....this was great news for me! I told him I was gonna hold him to his statement, and that I had witnesses...grin! I like the same suppension sleeve as tiger. Have tried a lot of them and it is the best I have tried. liners I use the alphas from oww and like them . I dont care for the feel of the liners (alps?) that tiger likes...so people have diff taste..lol Am getting a new leg made, and am looking forward to the tighter fit with the vac working properly. Someone had questions as the vac system and working on a farm? The pump is sealed for water to 3 meters, so dirt should be no problem what so ever. You would have to take care of the sleeve when working around any thing that could cut or punture it.... or cover sleeve with some protection. I see no problem adapting it to fit that life style . Well that is all for now Stay Frosty Frosty

    perfect stride II x3

Hi All I have been using a perfect stride for most of the summer. I love it. I have been an amp for over 20 yrs..have used several diff feet in that time. I am very active . To date the perfect stride is hands down the best foot I have every used.... I have several videos on utube using the perfect stride. If you would like to see them my user name on utube is "mynameisfrosty" Draw backs of the foot are: it has a hight profile so wont fit all users. It weights a little bit more then some other feet do On the plus side: It has great energy return , which a lot of feet do..but this one does it with a smooth roll over...which is very rare. This is the first foot I have used, that has side to side movement , that you can feel and use.....lots of feet say they have movement...but it is so minimal....that you do not notice much use from this movement. This foot really shines when on uneven ground. ex. golf... I saw a post on here some were asking about active vac systems . I tried the e harmoney first...did not like all the hoses hanging off my leg....so switched to the limblogic unit, and have been using that for approx 3 months...so far I like the system. I would be glad to offer any info I can to any one interested in how this foot has been working for me.. Stay Frosty Frosty --- Your Welcome Frosty Hey Tiger Glad your back... I would never have even heard of the perfect stride with out tigers help... A great souce of information.. Thanks Tiger Frosty

Moving on to a new provider

Hey All Trekkie I have just tried the e-harmony pump. It works well . Causes good suction for suspension, is easy to operate and understand how to use. It is not very heavy 4 oz. I however did not like it, because it straps on the side of the leg or socket. It requires a couple different hoses , that hang off the side of the socket. This did not work well for me. The hose snag on stuff in in the woods..etc. I suppose you could cover the unit up with your sock or some kind of finish to your leg. For me...I did not want stuff hanging off the side of my leg...other then that , no problems with the system . I switched to a similar system made by willow wood called limblogic . It is the same system , eccept that the pump is place inline between the bottom of you socket and the top of your foot. No hoses hanging off, very neat and tidy. So far with the acctive vacuum system I have to say , I realy love how it feels and the secure level of suspension. I have heard people express a fear that the system might be weak or easily damaged...or fail and have there leg fall off... I have not seen anything to indicate that this is even a possibility. As far as dusty dirty conditions...I am very active, do a ton of out door activities ,and have no worries or problems in this area. So far the biggest set back has been , that it is difficult to get the liner socket and suspension sleeve to seal properly. We have some issuse that my legman and I are still working on. As of right now the pump runs to much, as I am not getting a proper seal. This could be due to socket....sleeve or suspension sleeve...we are trying to order new sleeves etc to get the bugs out.... I will let you know how it goes. Even with the problems getting a seal , I see great potental for this system , and as is it is still better in my mind then all other systems I have tried. Hope this is helpful Stay Frosty Frosty

  9. Thanks for the welcom Frosty
  10. Hey All I am Frosty , and I use the perfect stride foot. This is my first post on this site. I have tried other feet . Cadence , flex mod 111, and a couple others. To date I like the stride the best. I have bka right side, and have been an amp for over 20 years. Of the feet I used I liked the flex the best because it has a very good energy return. After using the Perfect Stride for a few weeks now...I noticed that the flex foot pushs you upward with its energy return. This results in a lot of energy but a harsh roll over in your stride. The Perfect Stride rolls over much smoother. The energy is not directed upward, rather it is forward. This provides as much or more energy return, with out the harsh roll over. I now like the Perfect Stride the best, and then some. To date I have mtn biked over 100 miles , inline skated for at least 20 miles and played several rounds of golf on my new foot. My new set up has an active vacuum pump. At frist I had the e harmony pump, but traded it for the limblogic one, which is a lot neater set up.( I have a few different videos on utube. You can see the two different pumps on my leg in the different videos.) One of the best features of the Perfect Stride is how it handles uneven ground. I was amazed at how this foot makes uneven ground feel. It has helpped my golf game out a lot... my stance is better when I am addressing the ball. My new set up is a little heavier. This is due in part to the Perfect Stride weighing a little more..and the vacuum adds weight as well. This added weight is not noticable , as the active vacuum give such a secure susspension , that there is no play in the socket. I have had a problem getting the vacuum to seal properly, and so far the pump runs too much. We are still working on addressing this problem....I am assured that this can be fixed. Time will tell....but I do love how the ative vacuum system makes my stump feel in the socket. I hope this is helpful to those that are interested in the Perfect Stride foot. If you would like to see my utube videos you can search Perfect Stride , there are now 4 videos that my son and I have made. My user name is "mynameisfrosty" If you have any questions that I can help with , just ask... Stay Frosty Frosty P.S Hi Tiger!
