Hello All, Saw Heather on the Today show this morning She looked great!! Can someone tell me what type of foot she has that allows her ankle to bend at that angle for those heels? With my adjustable ankle, I can only wear a heel 2" differance in height. What type of leg does ahe have? I Also noticed how slim her legs were. I've been a rbk for 2 years now and I contiue to gain weight in my thight (right) Can't seem to find the right excerize to tone the muscle above my Knee HELP! Thanks Cathie

    Iceross question

Hello Mark, I have the same issue with my liner. I asked my Pro about it and he said to trim a bit off the top also. I haven't been able to try tit yet. Had to have some surgery done to my hip, so I'm non weight bearing on the right (i'm a Rbk) I'll be watching your post to see if anyone else has any suggestions. Good Luck, Nice to meet you. Cathie B)

    cutting down liners

Hello all, I'm still in my first leg so my advise you may want to check out with your Pro first. ;) I am a bk, with only about an inch left below my knee. I have cut my liner down to about 2 inches above the top of my socket, straight across. I do however cut my socks to match the shape of my socket so I don't have all that stuff hanging over my socket B) Understand? With my numb being so short, the back of my socket comes up fairly high so the fold in the back of your knee you spoke of, I don't have, I guess My pro was concerned that I cut my liner to short, and would compromise the hold, but so far so good. Hope this helps Cathie B)

    Travel

Hello Sue, I also traveled a-lot before I got my "New body Parts". It hasn't been a year yet since i lost my leg (RBK). However In March I traveled alone to Florida. The Whole trip was definatly a learning experince First Secuity at the airports was someting I wasn't exspecting. If I hadn't wore a pair of swaet pant that were able to pull up to expose my leg I would have had to go into a private room and drop my pant so they could swab my leg with something to check for exposives. Plus the fact that I have metal Plates in both arm The wanded me alot. So allow extra time to get to your flight, this whole proceder took a while, Plus they went through all my carry on Luggage, they said it was because I had a laptop in my luggage, BUT EVERYONE CARRY"S LAPTOPS and I didn't notice any one else's luggage being rummaged tru while they all but strip searched me. Then Being a Rbk I drive with me Left foot. So at the rental car place, the car they gave me had a console shiter. I usally drive with my leg on just sit with it off to the side. But with a console shiter, my leg woould have been up on the console and in the way of the shfter. I was panicing afraid to ask for a differant car Because i was unsure if they would take the car away because of me having to drive with my left foot. Luckily I had brought a pair if crutches with me, and with the sweat pants being wide leged I just took off my leg and set it in th passenger seat and away i went. Also I went swimming in the Hotel pool For my first time, since the accident. I just pushed a pool chair up close to the swollow end of the pool, took my leg off and lowered myself down into the pool. It was GREAT. There was a lot of stears, and all the litttle kids were full of Questions But all and all No Big deal. :D I walked on the beach that was tough but I didi it, and I wanted to swim in the Ocean , just couldn't figure out how I would get Back Out-- I think you'll be able to travel as much as you want. I had NO More trouble getting my legg off and on then I do at home. I sweat more and had to add more socks more often. But again NO BIG DEAL Let me Know when You want to travel somewhere, I'm always up for Vaction :D See Ya Cathie

    Dating

HELLO EVERYONE ;) I'VE BEEN WATCHING THIS POST ON DATING TO SEE HOW OTHERS DEAL WITH THE WHOLE THING. SINCE I AM RECENTLY A RBK AND ALSO RECENTLY DIVORCED THE DATING WORLD IS A DOUBLE THREAT. I'M NOT READY TO DATE YET, STILL UNSURE OF MYSELF, BUT I CAN SEE THIS BEING SOMETHING OF A PROBLEM. BEING A WOMEN I WOULD THINK IT MIGHT BE DIFFERANT THEN A MAN. I'M CONCERNED HOW MEN WILL REACT WHEN WITH MY NEW BODY. THE PEOPLE I KNOW ARE ALL SUPPORTIVE AND SAY THE USAUL STUFF LIKE " IT WON'T MATTER, IT THE PERSON INSIDE THAT COUNTS---BLAH-BLAH :( SO SOMEONE,ANYONE TELL ME HOW IT'S BEEN FOR YOU. REMEMBER, I'VE BEEN MARRIED ALL MY ADULT LIFE, 27 YEARS, THERE'S ANOTHER PROBLEM GETTING BACK OUT THERE THAN YOU ALL CATHIE

    Question

Hello everyone :D Once again before I start let me say I'm a Newbie also, so my experince with my leg are limited to this one I have. ;) I have an adjustable ankle with a foot that has a split toe. I got this leg (my 1st) in Sept of 2003, The weather was still warm enough that I wanted to wear sandles. I wasn't walking all that great yet, but i still put on my sandles (flip flop style) and tried. I noticed very quickly that I had no control over the sandle on my fake foot (I call It my Barbie Foot)So, you may think this silly, I don't know, but I applied a piece of velcro to the buttom of my Barbie foot and the top of my sandle to hold it on my foot. You know the type of self sticking 2 peice Velcro As I said I'm new to this whole lifestyle so this may not be the correct thing to do but it worked for me B) Good Luck Cathie

    Leg Issues

Hello Everyone :D I'm a Newbie and have lots of Questions. I'm a RBK and have a Gel liner /locking pin leg,w/ Elation foot, my first leg.1st, how often do you clean liner or alternate them? 2nd- how cloe can the top of the gel liner be trimmed off to the socket on the leg?-3rd- what are some ideas to make the fake leg blend with the residal leg, when wearing shorts or swimwear?-4th- what about sweating, how do you control it in the warm weather?-I haven't had to deal with it yet but can see it being a problem! Please help thank you cathie
  12. Hello Ellen, I have to tell you that I'm new to this whole thing, I just lost my leg 7 months ago in a motorcyle accident, however, my prostetes gave me an adjustable heel to accomadate my addition to shoes!!! I have know idea of any other type of leg or foot this is my first. I find this adjustable heel easy enough to get used to, having no other experiance, with fake legs There is a button on the inside of my ankle that i push in and adjust as need, than lock in place. I can walk bare foot and even wear sandle, thanks to the split toe. I was interested in your Question on what other types of legs are available, since as i said I'm "all new to this",I would appericate any input on what is out there please feel free to contact me and i will give you as much info as i know about my adjustable heel. Good Luck Cathie
