Amputees in High Office (Politics)

Recommended Posts

The new Speaker of The House in New Zealand's Parliament is Margaret Wilson who lost her leg (AK) due to motorcycle accident at age 19 (some years ago)

The top four political positions in New Zealand are now filled by women

In todays Wellington paper there is a photo of the new High Commissioner for New Zealand from Bangladesh who is also an AK amputee (due to gunshot wounds he received during military service)

The Honorable Margaret Wilson has quite a resume (I checked her out at the NZ parliament website). I'm thinking she has her work cut out for her, not easy keeping those parlimentary gatherings calm and orderly ;) Many of the Speakers of the House in Canada have gone on to become Governor General... maybe that will be her next move :)

Thanks for posting about this Dave.
