That time already

Recommended Posts

When I joined the forum in April 2004, I set a goal - to have had my amputation and to be able to walk unaided to my sons wedding, well the time has arrived, its this Saturday. I can't believe the time has flown by so quickly. I am all set for walking unaided, if not a little tentatively, as I have one hell of a sore leg at present, I'm just hoping it will have settled down a bit by 1.00pm on Saturday. Its the shoes I'm a bit wary of, they have only got a small heel, but I think its because I am not used to walking on heels that they feel like six inch stilettos to me!!!! The brides father will certainly have his work cut out when he escorts me out of church, lol. We could end up in a heap, now that would be something to remember, I think I would probably flatten him, lol.

If anyone is in the vicinity of the Arden Hotel, Solihull on Friday or Saturday night, feel free to pop in for a bacardi, or whatever takes your fancy.

Will give a wedding report next week, if I haven't fallen off my shoes!!!!! :P

Hi Pam,

Congatulations on the walking & the wedding. I'm sure the day will be wonderful. As for the heels, take your time, be weary of the runner that might be laid out & make sure the shoe has one of those pads on the bottom so it's not slippery as well as a little rubber on the heel. (no rubber comments Muz! ) Those dance floors can be slick. Be careful. You could always switch shoes at the reception.

Have a great day, enjoy the Bacardi, & just revel in the fact of how far you've come! :D

 Oh Pam, you describe it so beautifully. I am still smiling. Normally it's the parents who are beaming with pride, but I have a feeling that your son is going to be so very proud of his mum!

We definitely would like to see a pic or two of the happy family here on this forum. There are so many people wishing you well.

I say go for the scary heels for the church, but take some old faithfuls with to the reception so you can have a bacardi for all of us who are too far away (which prolly equals a bottle or two ;) ), and boogie till you can't no more!

Have a fabulous time!!!!!!

Love

Ally

Hi PamR:

I may be late in adding here................best of luck.

I walked my daughter down the aisle (using a walker) 10 months after being hit. It also was a goal of mine.

You've come so far and have done marvelous we are all so proud of your accompishments. Loads of kisses to you and your family on such a happy and joyous day. Enjoy and remember if you do fall just laugh, get back up and keep on walking. I have read many times it's not how often we fall that matters it's how often we get back up that really counts. :D

Hi All, we are back from our fabulous weekend. We were so proud on Saturday, the kids never stopped smiling all day, it was a joy to behold. Even the weather was kind to us. Thanks for all your good wishes, they mean so much, I know they come from the heart.

I will post some pics once I figure it all out again!!!! Any ideas Sheila, lol. Must go now, I have got to take the happy couple to the airport at 5.30am, they are off on honeymoon to the US. A couple of nights in New York, then a flight to Orlando, a couple of nights there, pick up a car, drive to Miami and then down to Cheeka Lodge in the Keys for about a week, sounds fab, wish I was going.

Bye for now.

PS didn't fall over, lol, I ditched the wedding shoes for an old pair, who cares nobody was looking at me anyway.
