Building in stone

Recommended Posts

2nd stone delivery has arrived, I now have all my materials, have booked 15th - 30th May off for the project, off to Wales tomorrow to see Southend United!

More news on the wall as it happens

PJ :)

Hi Paul,

just wondering, did Southend United move from Roots Hall? When I lived on Canvey( about 9 years ago) they were talking about selling the ground off and building a new stadium, somewhere else; Eastwood I think?

Enjoy the trip, have fun.

As.......

Steve

Hey Steve,

I used to live on Canvey about 9 years ago. I was over by the Admiral Jellico pub. Small world indeed.

AH Dr Feelgood country! Wilco Johnsong was my English teacher at King John!!

Hi Guy's,

I used to live near the 'Oysterfleet'.

If memory serves me, Peter Green of Thin Lizzie, used to live on the Island as well.

Weathers been atrocious, but I'm over half way! Really enjoying not having to think about work, the rain is a problem but that's the least of my worries! :)

On course to finish at the end of the week weather permitting.

Anyone who is interested in stone wll building i'm your man, have the blisters to prove it

Hi all

Well the wall’s complete at last, fought the atrocious weather  (wettest May on record!) and finished it today 29th may 2006.

6 Tonnes of Limestone

25 Bags of sand

8 Bags of cement

2 Bags of lime

200 cups of tea

Was it worth it? I think so & so does the wife, I had 9 rain days out of the 14 that I worked.

Have attached snap in the tub, with a Beck’s toasting the topping out!

It of course was raining at the time! ;)

PJ :)

Wow! Great job! Stunning wall!

I sure wish I were sitting in a tub right now... here in Ohio, USA it is 90+ degrees and we are sweltering! Although the humidity is great for the flowers and the birds don't seem to mind! I actually put on the a/c and came in for a bit to cool off, then back outside!

I'm back to work rest my weary bones.

Afet - Marilyn your always welcome for a dip, especially if your bringing alcohol!!

I going to deck the patio next summer, till then i will take it easy

Cheers to all that supported the wall

 Paul, I'm sorry it is cold there! We had a cold snap as recently as a week ago last Sunday. Couldn't even sit outside for freezing -- yep about 57 degrees... Warm is coming!

Now sit back, look at your glorious creation and enjoy it!

PS. Alcohol is a MUST! :)
