here's mine

1, where is your fave place for a picnic? :P

2, pettie blondes or amazon brunettes?

3, how many hours sleep do you need each night? ^_^

enjoy it honey xx H xx

Hello Hazel, thanks for the questions

1. Any place next to running water. That sound is intoxicating :)

2. How 'bout a sandwich that includes both! :D :D :D

3. Probably about 7, I guess. Seems like I require more since losing my leg. EVERYTHING takes more energy now, doesn't it?

Joe, not only is he good under fire, but quite diplomatic as well!!! Methinks we have some special people here!

Shane, thank you for saying this! I'm a new amp, and it certainly seems like every action requires about 75% more effort than before!

If it's any consolation, even as an established amp, I get tired more easily than my non-amp friends and family. I need loads of sleep...and I mean loads! Admittedly, I'm bilateral, so the physical demands are greater than for a single amp.

I think I read once that the mean oxygen consumption for a bilateral AK was 200% more than for a non-amp. It seems that more energy is needed for the altered walking pattern and the increased demands in balance and posture (correct me if I'm wrong, Marcus). I personally also think, that it has a lot to do with carrying around extra weight that isn't directly part of you. However, having said all that, you're body does adapt...and it does get easier! :)

Lizzie :)

Yes this answer is outstanding and demonstrates your ability to hit the ground running and think under fire. Very well done!

Joe,

Yes, I have the ability to hit the ground and sometimes I can even think under fire. But running????:blink:

See hop-hop-step post above....

OK, Open mouth, insert foot...

1. At the moment I am still waiting to see if I "qualify" for temporary disability. I worked in an automotive machine shop when I got hit and as I am now a "fall hazard," that option has been removed. So now I am working on motorcycles out of my home shop to try to help make ends meet. The shop is not complete yet, so getting things done is quite the juggling act. I hope to have the electrical done next week and that will help tremendously.

2. I always thought I would do something in the medical field, but lost interest when I decided to go to the Marines. You know, I even did some shadow work at the O&P where I am now a patient...15 years ago!

3. I'm not very good with jokes and don't have a very good selection. But here goes...

A farmer walks into a pub with a pig under his arm.

"Why have you got a pig under your arm?" asks the barman.

"This isn't just any old pig," the farmer says, "This pig has twice saved my life. So, just to be on the safe side, I carry him about everywhere with me."

"Oh really?" says the barman, incredulously.

"Yes, once I fell into the river and he jumped in and dragged me to the bank. Another time my house caught fire and he ran in and saved me, the wife and the kids."

As the farmer is talking the barman can't help noticing that the pig is missing a leg.

"In which of those accidents did the pig lose its leg in?" he asks.

The farmer replies: "Neither. An animal like this you don't eat all at once"

:D :D :D

Geeze, I guess the sharks are smelling blood

1. I think I was kinda late, maybe 14?

2. Some little thing named Allison.

3. Her parents house in the garage.

4. Superman

5. Not smart enough to be the Riddler. Not fat enough to be the Penguin. Gotta be the Joker.

6. Absolutely not. Maybe that's what's wrong.

7. I think I once read somewhere that Shane was Irish for John. (How's THAT work?) So I guess I'll go with that. Can't really post the more likely names here. ;)

8. Because we let you think you are. You probably can't understand though. :P

9. I think I would like to try that ride. Anybody got a parachute?

10. Not sure. Maybe they both should try harder!!  ;)

It sounds as though the name Shane is an anglicised form of Sean or Shaun…which are in turn, the Irish equivalent of John.

Tough guy, huh? ;)

1. I'll try to give you the condensed version. I was raised from the age of 4 by a man who married my mother and adopted me, thus giving me his last name. I never really called him Dad, but that's the bill he tried to fill and I love him for it. Fast forward to Feb 18, 1989. I was 17 years old. He died of a cocaine overdose. That was a tough one. BTW, somebody ask me something about being reunited with my biological father. That's a good one...

2. Right now I am a house husband who does dirt bike engines and suspension on the side.

3. Focus

4. That everybody is out to get more than they need. And they call it success. That just seems wrong.

5. Of course there is the dirt bike thing, but yesterday he learned to operate the riding mower. I just stood there in awe watching him drive. Little moments like that are priceless. :D

6. I had a Tonka dump truck. I used to sit on it and coast down the grass hill out back. Now that was a fast ride!

7. Yes. Look in the mirror. ;)

8. Johnny Depp. Followed by Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jack Nicholson, and R. Lee Ermy.

9. I guess that would have to be the time I signed my own report card and returned it. I really thought I was going to get away with that. I signed it because of a bad conduct score from talking too much in class. What were they thinking?

10. That they live elsewhere.

Hello Again Lizzie,

1. I was 2 or 3 and my mother was 17 or 18. We went to California for a while to stay with a Great Aunt. I can still remember hearing doves outside doing that little cooing tune they do. I still think about it when I hear them today.

2. I really can't communicate it properly, but my brother and I both race and have for several years. We have and see PLENTY of crashes. Most of these you can just jump up from with no problem. So, we've got this thing we always say to each other and now to everybody else. In a sort of cold monotone we simply look at the person and say "You're alright." Believe it or not, we have become known for that little line.

3. Nope. That's dangerous stuff in my world.

Thanks...

Is that an invite? ;)

Lizzie :)

And Lizzie pulls into the lead.... :D

Ok Mister Smarty kine pants. I' think I've got you stumped...

What's wrong with my water softener?

That's easy. Your water is too hard and the softener isn't working. You could try using softer water or a different softener. Hope that helps.

:P

Great you should ask. Well, my mother tracked him down when I got hit. Remember that we haven't really ever been around each other since I was an infant.. He called almost every day while I was in the trauma center and was a huge help . We hit it off immediately and are so much alike it is down right scary. When I hear him laugh on the phone, it's like hearing my own echo. I guess the biggest detail not yet included here is the fact that he is a bilateral amp. LBK and RAK. He lost his legs in Vietnam while serving in the...Marine Corps!

He is the most positive person I have ever met. Very early on he told me that if I ever wondered "Why me?", to think about it this way: "If it hadn't been you, then it may have been someone who couldn't handle it as well as you." His point struck home and that isn't a thought I ever consider.

Thanks for asking. :)

Totally agree Cat.

Shane, that was amazing. Also, kinda eerie too, but so great that you have someone so experienced with being an amputee around you IN YOUR OWN FAMILY!

That's the train of thought I take too when I'm having one of those days. That I am able to handle it when others may not have even survived. Your father's a very wise man ;)

Thank you for sharing your story with us :)
