I used to work at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I did a lot of hiking there but one hike stands out. It took all day but I hiked from the top of the Kibab trail to the river and back up the Bright angle trail in a single day. The NPS did not want even two legged people to do that and in fact will now fine you for trying. Too many people have tried and gotten stuck. People are often impressed by the way I get around. To me it's not such a big deal and I don't really understand people's reactions to me. In my mind I have a choice. I can sit on my butt and feel sorry for myself or I can get out and have fun and keep in shape. I don't know about you but I'd rather do the latter. Losing a leg is not the end of the world. You might have to find a new way to do things and it might take longer but it CAN be done. I'm proof of that. If I can hike 20 miles in the Grand Canyon I can do almost anything.
