Hi Andy,

I am doing a degree in Radiography. I am not staying away, the college is about 50 minutes away so i am going to drive every day. This past month i think i have seen every department going, i feel i have been prodded and poaked in every direction!!! I feel some people are a bit dubious of me even tackling this type of occupation because it involves standing all day.

I register this Sunday and Fresher week is the same as you.

Good luck also, what are you studying? Is your Uni far from home?

Love Yvonne

xx

Andy:

Best of luck on your moving and studies. It's always a great step getting out on your own. You remind me of my daughter when she went off to college, years ago. She was always very independent and anxious to be on her own. Even tho her school was one hour's drive from home, she definitely wanted to live on campus. And yes, the old folks were ready for some "space".

A friend's mother asked our daughter, "Aren't you going to be home-sick?" Dear Lisa pipes up, "Home-sick? Nope. I'm just sick of home." Oh, fear not. We are a close family, and she visited often. But she was just ready for that independence that most kids crave.

Our very best wishes for you, Andy. May it be a good year for you. Let us know how it goes.

Pixy,

I did history at university too. I loved it, and you don't have to be a teacher when you finish - honestly! Do you know what bit you are going to specialise in yet? I did Japan from 1858 until just after the second world war and my dissertation was on Stalin. I miss it thinking about it......

Andy,

Enjoy yourself. Is this your second year as well or did you have a year out last year?

well I want to be a secondary teacher but the way things are going for jobs I either need a reference letter from a higher power or really brilliant marks.

I'm supposed to be sticking with Canadian and 20th century history. But every now and then I go hang out in the Holy Roman Empire or early St. Petersburg when I get worn out from writing Holocaust papers. I don't know why I've put myself though so many Holocaust and WWII studies courses but for some reason I keep doing it.

I'm interested in a wide spectrum of things so I don't really specilize in anything yet.

I was in school last year too doing a little bit of everything to get a feel for it.

althoguh I am moving out you wouldnt believe but uni is onyl about 10 miles away from home. I am doing my nursing, and the hospitals where I can be based are a bit farther out than the uni. I will be living on hospital site though.

I did a foundation year in university of Glamorgan last year, which enabled me to get onto the nurisng degree.

i cannot wait to start, but even more so I cannot wait to move out. Yippee.... I think my dad and my boy friend will be fed up of me on saturday as.. i have lots of stuff. My best mate has asked them to help her.. altought I know what their answer is goign to be. LOL

I should have the internet up and runnin soon, so i shall keep you updated.

Take Care

Good luck, Andy - I hope everything goes well for you.

If it's like the time I had, it'll be hard work, but great fun! :D
