Ok, Cat. I posted "Hands" back in Feb. But it definitely warrants another read. :D

Does this mean you owe me royalties or something?

A little Australian influence :D The Video is here

John Farnham - You're The Voice

Words and music by Mandy Qunta, Chris Thompson, Keith Reid, and Maggie

Ryder

We have the chance to turn the pages over

We can write what we want to write

We gotta make ends meet, before we get much older

We're all someone's daughter

We're all someone's son

How long can we look at each other

Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it

Make a noise and make it clear

Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

We're not gonna sit in silence

We're not gonna live with fear

Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

This time, we know we all can stand together

With the power to be powerful

Believing we can make it better

We're all someone's daughter

We're all someone's son

How long can we look at each other

Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it

Make a noise and make it clear

Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

We're not gonna sit in silence

We're not gonna live with fear

Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

ooooh We're all someone's daughter

We're all someone's son

How long can we look at each other

Down the barrel of a gun?

You're the voice, try and understand it

Make a noise and make it clear

Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

We're not gonna sit in silence

We're not gonna live with fear

Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo (X3)

We're not gonna sit in silence

We're not gonna live with fear

Here is a poem that my daughter told me when she was 5 years old and going to daycare.

I dont wanna go to daycare anymore more more

There a big bad lady at the door door door

She grabs me by the collar, makes me pay a dollar

If you make me go, Im goin to hollar hollar hollar

King Crimson - Model Man

look at the signs

look at the symptoms

look at the slight

calm before the storm

I feel the silence

I feel the signals

I feel the strain

tension in my head

well, what more can be said...

not a model man

not a saviour or a saint

imperfect in a word

make no mistake

but I

give you everything I have

take me as I am...

Jethro Tull - Too Old to Rock 'N' Roll: Too Young to Die

The old Rocker wore his hair too long,

wore his trouser cuffs too tight.

Unfashionable to the end drank his ale too light.

Death's head belt buckle yesterday's dreams

the transport cafe prophet of doom.

Ringing no change in his double-sewn seams

in his post-war-babe gloom.

Now he's too old to Rock'n'Roll but he's too young to die.

He once owned a Harley Davidson and a Triumph Bonneville.

Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs

and prays that he always will.

But he's the last of the blue blood greaser boys

all of his mates are doing time:

married with three kids up by the ring road

sold their souls straight down the line.

And some of them own little sports cars

and meet at the tennis club do's.

For drinks on a Sunday work on Monday.

They've thrown away their blue suede shoes.

Now they're too old to Rock'n'Roll and they're too young to die.

So the old Rocker gets out his bike

to make a ton before he takes his leave.

Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner

just like it used to be.

And as he flies tears in his eyes

his wind-whipped words echo the final take

and he hits the trunk road doing around 120

with no room left to brake.

And he was too old to Rock'n'Roll but he was too young to die.

No, you're never too old to Rock'n'Roll if you're too young to die.

One of my favorites

Iron Maiden - Wasted Years

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas

I'm travellin' on, far and wide

But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself

And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but

someone else

I close my eyes, and think of home

Another city goes by in the night

Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it 'til it's

gone away

And my heart is lying there and will be 'til my

dying day

[Chorus:]

So understand

Don't waste your time always searching for

those wasted years

Face up... make your stand

And realise you're living in the golden years

Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind

Can't ease this pain, so easily

When you can't find the words to say it's hard to

make it through another day

And it makes me wanna cry and throw my

hands up to the sky

[Chorus:]

So understand

Don't waste your time always searching for

those wasted years

Face up... make your stand

And realise you're living in the golden years

Another Oldie but Moldy for all you single people out there. This just popped into my head this morning and it's been playing in the radio of my mind all day long! Haven't thought of it in years...Anybody care to do a little psychoanalysis???

Home to Myself

(by Carole Bayer Sager and Melissa Manchester)

I wake up and see

The light of the day

Shining on me

Make my own time

It's mine to spend

Think to myself

My own best friend

It's not so bad all alone

Comin' home to myself again

Now I understand

Whatever I feel is whoever I am

Watching my life and how its grown

Looking on back to friends I've known

Its not so bad all alone

Coming home to myself again

It's not so bad to get lost in my tears

And to laugh and to cry for the years gone by

Oh my, oh my,

Now somehow I know

I've come a long way

Got a long way to go

But something inside

Keeps making me strong

And in the bad times

I'll get along

'Cause it's not so bad all alone

Comin' home to myself again

I'm Comin' home

Golden oldies bring back such strong feelings. Oh Well! by Fleetwood Mac about sumed up the way I felt at the time.

[/font]

Youtube have a BBC video

I can't help about the shape I'm in

I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you

I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh well

Now, when I talked to God I knew he'd understand

He said, "Stick by my side and I'll be your guiding hand

But don't ask me what I think of you

I might not give the answer that you want me to"

Oh well

Short and sweet and to the point...

Echoes - Dar Williams

Every time you love just a little

Take one step closer, solving a riddle

It echoes all over the world

Every time you opt in to kindness

Make one connection, used to divide us

It echoes all over the world

Every time you choose one more morning

Goodness or meanness, life has one warning

It echoes all over the world

When a leader gets the hungry fed food

When you just make love inside your bedroom

It echoes all over the world

I have to say that this is a song that got me through life, and still does to this day. I love it, so I hope you do too! This song is called The River..

You know a dream is like a river

Ever changin' as it flows

And a dreamer's just a vessel

That must follow where it goes

Trying to learn from what's behind you

And never knowing what's in store

Makes each day a constant battle

Just to stay between the shores.. and

I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Like a bird upon the wind

These waters are my sky

I'll never reach my destination

If I never try

So I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Too many times we stand aside

And let the waters slip away

'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow

Has now become today

So don't you sit upon the shoreline

And say you're satisfied

Choose to chance the rapids

And dare to dance the tide.. yes

I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Like a bird upon the wind

These waters are my sky

I'll never reach my destination

If I never try

So I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

And there's bound to be rough waters

And I know I'll take some falls

But with the good Lord as my captain

I can make it through them all.. yes

I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Like a bird upon the wind

These waters are my sky

I'll never reach my destination

If I never try

So I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Yes, I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

'Til the river runs dry

Someone recently asked me about my "favorite Christmas song." While I can't really say that I have a single "favorite," this one would be way, way up there on my list. Sung by the Roches as a haunting a capella ballad, it makes me sigh and wonder every time I hear it:

STAR OF WONDER

by Terre Roche

Star of wonder in the heavens

Wonder what you want of me

Should I follow you tonight?

Star of wonder, star of wonder

I am just a lonely shepherd

Watching from a distant hill

Why do you appear to me?

Star of wonder, star of wonder

If you will

In the morning, they'll come looking

For the shepherd on the hill

What would make her leave her flock

For surely she must love them still

Star of wonder in the heavens

Are you just a shining star or

Should I follow you tonight?

Star of wonder, star of wonder

Shining bright

I Heard this for the first time a few days ago. It listens a little better than it reads, but it makesme smile alot, so it goes here.... :D :D

Artist: Jeb Loy Nichols

Song: Heaven Right Here

I got penny change in my pocket

I got heaven on my mind

Got a gravel road I got 20 miles

Gonna spend a little time

For the ways of the world seem to frustrate

Always stealing food off from the next plate

Only hate is a fate and it's too late

All we get is a crumb from the big cake

So I'll stop slow down

Watch the sun go down

Come on over to my yard

Sit around

And let your troubles all disappear

come on over to my yard

Because right now heaven's right here

It was rain and sunny in the morning

Afternoon the clouds gave chase

I don't want to take my place in that rat race

As for love there's no trace of that face

And it chills me right down to my backbone

And a lonesome soul far from home

When the world that they made starts to fall down

I'll be here so why don't you come around

And we'll all stop, slow down

Watch the sun go down

I'll just take my time

I'm gonna relax my mind

Come on over to my yard

Sit around

and let your troubles all disappear

Come on over to my yard

'Cause right now heaven's right here

(yes it is)

Come on over to my yard

Sit around and let your troubles all disappear

Come over to my yard

'Cause right now heaven's right here

(so come along)

Right now heaven's right here

(yes it is)

Come on over to my yard

(come along come along)

Sit around let your trouble all disapper

(all disappear)

Come on over to my yard

(ooohohohh)

Cause right now heaven's right here

(yes it is, I said a)

Right now heaven'ts right here

(let me say)

Right now heaven's right here

Yes it is....

Go ahead, dig in. This is a piece of work...

America-Horse With No Name

On the first part of the journey

I was looking at all the life

There were plants and birds and rocks and things

There was sand and hills and rings

The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz

And the sky with no clouds

The heat was hot and the ground was dry

But the air was full of sound

Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name

It felt good to be out of the rain

In the desert you can remember your name

cause there aint no one for to give you no pain

La, la ...

After two days in the desert sun

My skin began to turn red

After three days in the desert fun

I was looking at a river bed

And the story it told of a river that flowed

Made me sad to think it was dead

You see Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name

It felt good to be out of the rain

In the desert you can remember your name

cause there aint no one for to give you no pain

La, la ...

After nine days I let the horse run free

cause the desert had turned to sea

There were plants and birds and rocks and things

There was sand and hills and rings

The ocean is a desert with its life underground

And a perfect disguise above

Under the cities lies a heart made of ground

But the humans will give no love

You see Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name

It felt good to be out of the rain

In the desert you can remember your name

cause there aint no one for to give you no pain

La, la ...

Tiny broken heart by Allison Krauss

He was just a little farm lad, so busy at play

With his little play mate outside the gate.

Well, he stopped to watch a truck that was parking next door

At the home of his tiny play mate.

Then he saw his Daddy watchin' too

As the men swiftly walked to the Carter's door.

He knew they were strangers that came from the town,

Men he had never seen before.

They soon went to work when he heard his Daddy say

"Our neighbours are moving today."

"Oh no!" he cried, "dear God, don't let it be!

They can't take my sweetheart away!"

"I know Dad you don't understand

How a heart so young could conceive a plan.

I'm only seven now, but it's just like you say,

Daddy, some day I'll be a man."

"The man who owns the farm where your play mates do live,

He told me it'd have to be this way.

For winter time has come, and the work is all done,

That's why they are moving today."

"Let us buy the farm so they can stay!

And give him all the toys that dear Santa gave!

And give him all my pennies in my little piggy bank!

Pennies that my darlin' helped me save."...

If you haven't, do yourself a favor and pick up John Mayer's cd, Continuum. Lots of home runs on this one.

Gotta dedicate this one to that whole side of my family that, regardless of evidence, refuses to "see" what I do and even use me as the "bad" example to their children. Uncle Mike, I know you're a devoute Mormon and think you have all the answers, but how many tearey eyes have ever told you "You inspire me."? And what does that say...

Better luck on your next go 'round.

"Vultures"

Some of us, We're hardly ever here

The rest of us, we're born to disappear

How do I stop myself from

Being just a number

How will I hold my head

To keep from going under

Down to the wire

I wanted water but

But I'll walk through the fire

If this is what it takes

To take me even higher

Then I'll come through

Like I do

When the world keeps

Testing me, testing me,testing me

How did they find me here

What do they want from me

All of these vultures hiding

Right outside my door

I hear them whisperin

They're tryin to ride it out

Cause they've never gone this long

Without a kill before

Down to the wire

I wanted water but

I'll walk through the fire

If this is what it takes

To take me even higher

Then I'll come through

Like I do

When the world keeps

Testing me, testing me, testing me

Wheels up

I got to leave this evening

Can't seem to shake these vultures

Off of my trail

Power is made, by power being taken

So I keep on running

To protect my situation

Down to the wire

I wanted water but

I'll walk through the fire

If this is what it takes

To take me even higher

Then I'll come through

Like I do

When the world keeps

Testing me, testing me

Oooooooooooo

Oooooooooooo

Oooooooooooo

Oooooooooooo

Whatcha gonna do about it

Whatcha gonna do about it

Here is an old Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs tune

Pretty Little Miss

Pretty little miss out in the garden

Strange young man came riding by

Down at the gate he did address her

Saying pretty little miss won't you marry me

Oh no my love is on the ocean

Seven years out on the sea

And if he sails seven years longer

No man on earth can marry me

Perhaps your loved one he is drowned

Perhaps he's in some battle land

Perhaps he stole some girl and married

You'll never see your love again

If he is drowned I hope he's happy

Or if he's in some battle land

Or if he stole some girl and married

I'll love the girl that married him

He pulled his hand out of his pockets

His fingers being keen and small

This is the ring you placed upon here

Down by his feet she did fall

He picked her up in arms so tender

Kisses he gave her one two three

This is your little single soldier

Returning home to marry thee

This one by Stevie Wonder always cheers me up as It's one of my favorite "keep keeping on" song!!

Tomorrow Robins Will Sing

Stevie Wonder

Now every ting is lovely

So don't put yu trust inna false prophecy

Dis a de Edley Shine & Stevie

You might wonder

Stand firm to all those who feel concern

Ca when you can't see the light

You must see the Robins in flight

Life is just a matter of time or space

So all those who have to face sorrow

Shall only have to wait till tomorrow

Big tings a guan dis year

So mek we drop inna gear

Come cross missa Stevie Wonder

Watch it!

Now where do I start to make the point that I'll be making

To most efficiently use your time that I'll be taking

With the clear understanding that every ticking second is precious to us all

But if you let me bend your ear and listen up you will hear

Not just what I say, but every word that I am saying

You wake in the morning from a dream with spirits dope hype

Though you real life condition is far from being alright

Your love has wronged you, your money's gone, you've lost your home and everything you own

But before you do something major extreme

I've got one simple thing for you to take along with you, as you go on your lonely way

Tomorrow robins will sing, tomorrow robins will sing

It really is no big thing, cause tomorrow robins will sing

Tomorrow blue jays will fly, the weather forecasts clear skies

So dry those tears from your eyes, cause tomorrow blue jays will fly

You borrow a dime to call up a friend that you could rely on

They put the phone down, you hear in the background "tell him I'm not home"

Your face is broken, your throat is chokin, you hang up the phone in disbelief

And to make matters worse

You can remember you were the first and only one to come to him when lonely was his everyday

But if what you did came from your heart and not expecting

Then you should not waste one heart beat on any regretting

The saying's older than old yet true for today as when it was made to be told

As you sow so shall you reap

And if you've treated life sweet

Your blessing's been ordained and already on its way

Tomorrow robins will sing, tomorrow robins will sing

It really is no big thing, cause tomorrow robins will sing

Tomorrow blue jays will fly, the weather forecasts clear skies

So dry those tears from your eyes, cause tomorrow blue jays will fly

Today is the tomorrow you were so worried about

Looking over your yesterday

The clouds are gone and the sun is out

And everything has worked out irie okay

Tomorrow robins will sing, tomorrow robins will sing

It really is no big thing, cause tomorrow robins will sing

Tomorrow blue jays will fly, the weather forecasts clear skies

So dry those tears from your eyes, cause tomorrow blue jays will fly

Tomorrow robins will sing, tomorrow robins will sing

It really is no big thing, cause tomorrow robins will sing

My favorite still goes to ol' Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra with his song, "That's Life." The song has gotten me through a lot of bad times other than my amputation. Favorite line is, "Each Time I find myself lying flat on my face, I just pick myself up and get back into the race." That's what everyone has to do in this life no matter what hits us. I just wish the last line were different cause I'm never going to roll up into a ball and die until it's time for the final check out.

That's life, that's what all the people say.

You're riding high in April,

Shot down in May

But I know I'm gonna change that tune,

When I'm back on top, back on top in June.

I said that's life, and as funny as it may seem

Some people get their kicks,

Stompin' on a dream

But I don't let it, let it get me down,

'Cause this fine ol' world it keeps spinning around

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,

A poet, a pawn and a king.

I've been up and down and over and out

And I know one thing:

Each time I find myself, flat on my face,

I pick myself up and get back in the race.

That's life

I tell ya, I can't deny it,

I thought of quitting baby,

But my heart just ain't gonna buy it.

And if I didn't think it was worth one single try,

I'd jump right on a big bird and then I'd fly

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate,

A poet, a pawn and a king.

I've been up and down and over and out

And I know one thing:

Each time I find myself laying flat on my face,

I just pick myself up and get back in the race

That's life

That's life and I can't deny it

Many times I thought of cutting out

But my heart won't buy it

But if there's nothing shakin' come this here july

I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball and die

My, My
