Quite a story, Gil... and you're right; he's an incredibly lucky fellow!

Dave, you just brought back a memory for me... and not about "Easy Rider." Several years back (before all the foot problems started) I was sitting in my car at a red light. Suddenly someone came in front of me in the crosswalk: a middle-aged guy with shaggy gray hair, in well-worn jeans, t-shirt, fringed leather jacket, motorcycle boots, wraparound shades, and a cowboy hat with a pheasant tailfeather stuck in his hatband. He was a cocky fellow, with a "don't mess with me; I'm TOUGH!" attitude, and he was crossing the highway hell-bent-for-leather... in his electric wheelchair. At the exact moment he entered my field of vision, "Born to be Wild" started blasting on my car radio.

I cranked up the radio and cheered him on his way... and I've never forgotten him! Later, when I'd get feeling "down" during my recovery, I'd think about him and try to exhibit just a little of that cocky self-confidence. It hontestly helped!

If you notice, he has a "I'm a Pepper" t-shirt on, If he would not have dropped his soda (damn potholes) He would have made a great commercial. Or was it???
