Challenged Athletes Kid’s Run

Recommended Posts

Thanks to you, the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) celebrates another successful event!

As the fog lifted this past Sunday, October 26, challenged athletes shined. 136 physically challenged athletes of all ages, abilities and nationalities took center stage at the 15th Anniversary Aspen Medical Products San Diego Triathlon Challenge, the Tour de Cove and the Kaiser Permanente Thrive-K Fitness Walk at La Jolla Cove. They swam, biked, ran and walked to showcase their empowering abilities as athletes and prove that they are competitors just like able-bodied athletes.

These events, as well as the Qualcomm Million Dollar Challenge which finished its seven-day 600-mile journey down the California coastline last Friday, October 24, exemplify how CAF is changing lives, one athlete at a time. The more than $2.1 million raised at the combined events will help CAF change even more lives.

A highlight of the day was the Challenged Athletes Kid’s Run, the event where seven year old Cody McCasland a bilateral above-knee amputee from Colleyville, Texas was able to participate.

Cody will be featured on tomorrow’s (Tuesday, October 28) episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show. Check your local listing and watch Cody charm the crowd with his adorable smile and bubbly personality in Oprah’s “Miracle Children with Celine Dion” special.

To view other local press from this weekend’s event, please visit CAF’s “In the News” section of the challengedathletes.org website homepage.

Full-recaps of the events, inspiring stories and photos will follow, but we wanted to quickly say “Thank you!” to all our wonderful sponsors, fundraisers and volunteers who make this all possible.

Many Thanks,

The CAF Team
