Darren,

I have always had a total contact suction socket. It is a hybred design, Sabloch and another combined. I like it, but it is all I know. Others may have good experiences with the pin and stump sock/liner that fits into the socket.

As you're new to all this and you're in the UK, you'll probably have an ischial containment socket (?). I think you need to get used to that before you start on anything more elaborate.

As for fitting ... it's the same whatever the socket type ... a good fit is one that holds you firm but not too tight, and doesn't hurt when you wear it all day every day. Now if you're talking about suspension (the thing that holds your leg on), well that's trial and error - everyone's different & you really need to speak to your prosthetist.
